When was the Toyota Fortuner launched?
The current version of the Toyota Fortuner was launched in India on 6 January, 2021.
What variants does it get?
The Fortuner is available in five variants – 4x2 MT, 4x2 AT, 4x4 MT, 4x4 AT, and Legender 4x2 AT. It is also available in a special range-topping version called GR-S.
What features are available in the Fortuner?
Soldiering on with its iconic styling, the Fortuner has established itself in the Indian market. With the last facelift it received, the changes on the inside that were predominantly updated include a sleeker grille, LED headlamp units with integrated DRLs, reworked styling on the bumper along with a revised LED taillight signature, and, of course, stylish-looking 18-inch alloy wheels.
When it comes to exterior colours, the Toyota Fortuner is available in nine colour options, which include Sparkling Black Crystal Shine, Phantom Brown, Super White, Attitude Black, Avant-Garde Bronze, Grey Metallic, White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Metallic, and White Pearl Crystal Shine with a black roof. Some of these options are only available to the Legender buyer.
Interior and features of the Fortuner:
Despite carrying over the basic layout of the cabin, the new update, which was part of the facelift, introduced a newer eight-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, connected car technology, apart from ventilated front seats, wireless charger, puddle lamps, cruise control, and a 360-degree camera. There’s also an 11-speaker sound system from JBL in the range-topping versions, while the refreshed cabin gets new black and chamois leather upholstery.
The Legender version offers a more upmarket cabin with dual-tone black and maroon colour leather upholstery, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and black dials with white illumination for the instrument console.
What are the engine, performance, and specifications of the Toyota Fortuner?
With the Fortuner, there are two powertrain choices. With the 2.7-litre petrol engine, you get 164bhp and 245Nm with a choice of a six-speed manual or a torque converter automatic unit. On the other hand, the familiar 2.8-litre diesel motor continues with an output of 201bhp and 420Nm if you go for the manual, while the automatic version’s torque figure is rated at 450Nm. Then, the Fortuner gets three new driving modes as well – Eco, Normal, and Sport. While the standard 4x2 is available across the range, the 4x4 variants are equipped with downhill assist control along with high and low-range drive systems.
Is the Toyota Fortuner a safe car?
The Toyota Fortuner has scored a five-star rating in the NCAP crash test. It comes with seven airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat-belt reminder system, speed alert system, VSC with brake assist, traction control, and a park assist function.
What are the rivals to the Toyota Fortuner?
While the Ford Endeavour has been discontinued, the Toyota Fortuner now finds rivals in the form of the MG Gloster and the Isuzu MU-X apart from premium soft-roaders like the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace and the Skoda Kodiaq.
