Maruti Suzuki is preparing to announce its initial entry into the electric vehicle segment with the introduction of its first-ever electric SUV, the eVX, which is set to launch in India by December 2025. The SUV was first shown as a concept at the Auto Expo, and is now expected to be referred to as the Electric Vitara.
Design & Platform
The Maruti eVX will be constructed on an EV specific platform developed in collaboration with Toyota. The final design is expected to be similar to what was shown as a concept, a coupe body design feature, aerodynamic elements, and LED lighting. The platform will be used for upcoming EVs throughout both the Maruti and Toyota brands.

Battery, Range & Performance
Maruti confirmed the eVX will use a 60 kWh lithium-ion battery and will have a claimed range of 550 km on a single charge. Performance numbers have not been published yet, but the eSV will be offered in single and dual motor configurations, with an all wheel drive option.
Expected Features & Technology
The EVX will feature items like a digital driver display, connected car technology, ADAS safety features, wireless charging, and maybe a panoramic sunroof. The interior will be characterized by sustainability and minimalism, with tech-driven comfort.
Strategic Importance & Pricing
The launch of the electric Vitara is a significant step for Maruti Suzuki to align itself with India's EV push. It will likely be priced at ₹18-22 lakh (ex-showroom) and compete against rivals such as Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV. With this, Maruti is looking to take a significant stake in India's growing electric SUV market.
