Honda India is preparing for a significant double launch on May 22, 2026, introducing both the all-new ZR-V SUV and a second facelift for the fifth-generation Honda City. This move signals a strategic shift for the Japanese automaker, which is aiming to strengthen its premium brand image in India. The ZR-V will serve as a high-end "halo" model, arriving as a full CBU (Completely Built Unit) import to compete with established premium SUVs like the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq.
Positioned as Honda’s new flagship SUV, the ZR-V is expected to be priced between ₹40 lakh and ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike the boxy design of the locally-made Elevate, the ZR-V features sleek, rounded crossover proportions.
2026 Honda City facelift: What to expect
Under the hood, it is likely to feature a powerful 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder hybrid engine producing around 180hp, paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission. The cabin will be packed with high-end tech, including an ADAS safety suite, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, and a freestanding infotainment system.

Simultaneously, Honda is refreshing its long-standing sedan, the City, to help it stay competitive against newer rivals like the Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Virtus. This 2026 facelift will focus primarily on the interior and feature list, where the car has previously trailed its competitors.
Buyers can expect significant upgrades such as ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, a larger touchscreen with updated software, and the addition of a 360-degree camera system for easier parking.
The exterior of the 2026 Honda City will receive only minor cosmetic tweaks, mainly to the bumpers, alloy wheels, and lighting signatures. Mechanically, the sedan remains reliable and unchanged, continuing to offer the 121hp 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and the 126hp strong hybrid (e:HEV) powertrain.
By launching these two models together, Honda hopes to cater to both loyal sedan fans and those looking for a sophisticated, eco-friendly luxury SUV experience.
