What features are available in the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R?
Undoubtedly being one of the most popular cars in India, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has now moved to the Heartect platform. It continues to have the tall-boy stance but is bigger than before. The 2022 update saw minor revisions with added equipment, and alloy wheels in the top-spec version. It also introduced the original maroon paint scheme (Gallant Red) seen on previous generations of the Wagon R.
In terms of equipment, the Wagon R comes with a seven-inch Smart Play Studio with smartphone connectivity and four speakers, steering mounted control, electric ORVMs, remote keyless entry, powered windows, and 14-inch alloy wheels in the top-spec version.
What are the engine, performance, and specifications of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R?
You can have the Wagon R with 1.2-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engine options. The K12 1.2-litre engine is the same as the one offered in the Baleno and the Swift. This four-cylinder unit produces 89bhp and 113Nm. It can be had either with a five-speed manual or an AMT, but there’s no CNG option for this engine. However, you get a CNG option with the 1.0-litre engine, which puts out 66bhp and 89Nm. While in the CNG mode, the power output is 56bhp and 82Nm. You can have the same gearbox choices, as mentioned earlier, with the 1.0-litre version, but there’s no automatic version for the CNG.
Is the Maruti SuzukiWagon R a safe car?
Since the 2022 update, the Wagon R comes standard with dual airbags, an antilock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD), front seat belt reminder, child locks, a high-speed alert system, and rear parking sensors. The automatic version also gets a hill hold function. But the Wagon R hasn’t scored very high in the Global NCAP test, managing just a one-star rating.
