When was the Ignis launched?
Maruti Suzuki introduced the updated Ignis in the country on 27 February, 2023.
What variants does the Ignis get?
There's no change in terms of variants and Sigma remains the base variant. Then, there's Delta, Zeta, and the top-spec Alpha trim. All these variants are retailed through Maruti's Nexa chain of outlets.
What features are available in the Ignis?
The Ignis is a small hatchback that rides on 15-inch alloy wheels and gets LED headlamps with DRLs on its top-spec variant. It is packed with features such as a tilt steering wheel with mounted controls, automatic climate control, push-button start, height-adjustable driver seat, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and auto ORVMs. Then, there's a seven-inch Smartplay Studio infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Talking about the safety tech that Maruti Suzuki has added to the new Ignis, it now comes equipped with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and hill hold assist across all variants. Other safety features continue as is.
What are the engine, performance, and specifications of the Ignis?
The hatchback now comes with an RDE-compliant, 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine. And though it complies with the BS6 Phase 2 norms now, there's no change in the power output or fuel-efficiency ratings. The refreshed engine continues to churn out 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the transmission options include a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT.
Is the Ignis a safe car?
The top-end model Maruti Suzuki Ignis Alpha 1.2 AMT Dual Tone comes with safety features, including two airbags, seat belt warning, overspeed warning, speed-sensing door lock, central locking, and anti-theft engine immobiliser. The aforementioned new safety features, too, are included in the car.
What are the rivals to the Ignis?
The Maruti Ignis competes with other hatchbacks such as the Citroen C3, Hyundai Exter, Maruti Celerio, Tata Tiago, and others in a similar price bracket.
