When was the new Thar launched?
The BS6 Phase-2 compliant Thar was launched in India on 12 April, 2023.
What variants does it get?
The Thar is available in two variants: AX Opt and LX. Mahindra offers factory-fitted convertible top, soft-top, and hard top choices. Customers have option to pick from - Thar 4x4 and Thar 4x2 versions.
What features are available in the new Mahindra Thar?
Exterior highlights of the new Mahindra Thar include the signature multi-slat grille, circular headlamps, fender-mounted turn indicators, rectangular-shaped LED tail lights, fog lights, 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, and dual-tone bumpers. The Thar is offered in three body styles that include hard-top, soft-top, and convertible-top.
Mahindra has redesigned the interior of the Thar and it is now completely washable with a draining facility. The Thar features an up-to-the-minute cabin-like any modern hatchback or sedan. There is a touchscreen infotainment system in the vehicle which supports smartphone connectivity. Besides, it has a manual gearstick for the four-wheel-drive system in the 4x4 variants. The Thar 4x2 variants can be distinguished by the lack of the 4x4 badging on either side of the body.
The new Thar, which has a seating capacity of four occupants, is available in six paint options, namely Everest White, Aquamarine, Blazing Bronze, Red Rage, Napoli Black, and Galaxy Grey. It has a seating capacity of four occupants.
What are the engine, performance, and specifications of the Thar?
The Thar is offered with a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine producing 150bhp and 320Nm of torque while the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel mill develops 130bhp and 300Nm of torque. Also up for offer is a 1.5-litre diesel engine in the lower variants, generating 117bhp and 300Nm of torque. Transmission options include six-speed manual and automatic units. The Thar 4x4 gets a 4WD system while the 4x2 version misses out on this feature. All the said engine are now updated to comply with the RDE norms.
