Introduction
The Force Motors Trax Cruiser is mainly known as a people carrier in semi-urban and rural markets across India. But you can buy one as a private vehicle too! Available in seven-seater+driver and 12-seater+driver variants, the Trax Cruiser with a BS6 diesel engine was launched back in 2020.
Exterior
A multi-utility vehicle designed for the rough roads of the hinterlands, the Trax Cruiser features a simple design which maximises space over form. This hasn’t stopped Force Motors from trying to add a bit of pizzazz to its design, with large clear lens lights all around, an in-your-face grille and stylish full-wheel covers for the Cruiser’s 15-inch steel wheels.
Interior
Gurkha owners will find the interior of the Trax Cruiser familiar, with a similar dashboard layout, though the latter features a dual-tone black-and-beige interior theme. It features flush-fitting windshields at the front and rear, which look better on the outside while also reducing wind noise on the inside. Large windows let in a lot of air/light, which is essential considering the Trax Cruiser can easily seat more than the advertised number of seats. Air conditioning and a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity are optional extras, though powered windows and central locking are offered as standard.
Engine and transmission
Force Motors uses a Mercedes-Benz-sourced 2.6-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine on most of its products in India, and the Trax Cruiser is no exception. The motor develops a maximum of 90bhp and 250Nm of peak torque. A five-speed manual transmission sends all that power to the rear wheels. Clever gear ratios offer good low-speed tractability and easy highway cruise abilities for a vehicle that is rated to carry over 3 tons of weight.
