Toyota has officially introduced its first mass-market electric vehicle for the Indian market, the Urban Cruiser Ebella. This electric SUV is a sibling to the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, sharing its foundation while carrying a distinct Toyota identity.
Bookings are now open for a token amount of ₹25,000, with the official market launch and price announcement expected in February 2026.
1. Performance and Range
The Ebella offers two battery options to suit different driving needs. Both are paired with a front-mounted electric motor.
| Battery Pack | Power / Torque | Claimed Range (ARAI) |
|---|---|---|
| 49kWh | 142bhp / 189Nm | 440 km |
| 61kWh | 172bhp / 189Nm | 543 km |
- Charging: A DC fast charger can juice up the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 45 minutes.
- Warranty: Toyota is offering an 8-year battery warranty and a "Battery-as-a-Service" (BaaS) rental program to make ownership more affordable.
2. Exterior Styling
While it shares the silhouette of the Maruti e-Vitara, the Ebella features a "Hammerhead" front design that is sleeker and more aggressive.
- Lighting: Unique segmented LED DRLs and triangular LED headlights.
- Wheels: Stylish 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels designed for better aerodynamics.
- Ruggedness: The thick body cladding and 2,700mm wheelbase give it a strong SUV stance.
- Colors: Available in 5 monotone shades (like Land Breeze Green and Sportin Red) and 4 dual-tone options with a black roof.

3. Interior and Tech
The cabin features a premium dual-tone black and tan theme, complemented by high-quality soft-touch materials.
- Displays: A 10.25-inch digital driver's cluster and a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
- Comfort: Ventilated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and unique sliding/reclining rear seats for extra legroom.
- Luxury: A panoramic fixed glass roof, 12-colour ambient lighting, and a premium JBL sound system with a subwoofer.
4. Safety and Variants
Toyota has prioritized safety, offering 7 airbags as standard across all variants.
- Advanced Safety: The top-spec model includes Level 2 ADAS (Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, etc.) and a 360-degree camera.
- Variants: It will be sold in three main trims:
- E1: The entry-level model with the 49kWh battery.
- E2: Adds the larger 61kWh battery and a 360-degree camera.
- E3: The flagship trim with ADAS, ventilated seats, and the panoramic roof.

5. Market Rivalry
The Toyota Ebella is positioned to compete in the highly contested mid-size electric SUV segment against the Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, and the Maruti e-Vitara.
