The Indian SUV market is about to get a new heavyweight. MG Motors has confirmed that its new flagship full-size SUV, the MG Majestor, will officially launch on February 12, 2026. First seen at the Auto Expo 2025, this beast has been a hot topic among car enthusiasts, having been tested on Indian roads.
Based on the international Maxus D90, the Majestor is designed to sit above the Gloster in MG’s lineup, offering more luxury and a bolder presence.
1. A Design That Commands Respect
The Majestor isn't just big; it's aggressive. Its design focuses on a "go-anywhere" ruggedness combined with premium aesthetics:
- The Face: A massive gloss-black front grille dominates the front, flanked by vertically stacked LED headlights and sleek, eyebrow-shaped DRLs.
- The Profile: It features 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels (reminiscent of the Gloster's) and heavy black body cladding for a muscular appearance.
- The Rear: Modern connected LED taillights and a sporty dual-exhaust setup give it a high-end finish.

2. Premium Interiors & Tech
Inside, the Majestor is expected to be a tech-lover's dream. Following the layout of the Maxus D90, the cabin will likely feature:
- Massive Displays: A 12.3-inch floating touchscreen for entertainment and a matching digital instrument cluster for the driver.
- Luxury Touches: A 3-spoke steering wheel and a modern, column-mounted gear selector.
- Top-Tier Comfort: Expect everything from the Gloster plus more—including a panoramic sunroof, 3-zone climate control, a 12-speaker audio system, and heated/massaging front seats.

3. Performance: The Twin-Turbo Heart
To move a vehicle of this size, MG is expected to use a proven powerhouse:
- Engine: A 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine.
- Power: Delivering roughly 216hp and a massive 479Nm of torque (international versions even reach 500Nm).
- Drive System: This engine will likely be paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a robust 4WD (4-Wheel Drive) system, making it as capable off-road as it is on the highway.
4. Pricing and Competition
The MG Majestor is aimed at the premium segment. Since it is positioned above the Gloster (which costs between ₹38.33 lakh and ₹42.49 lakh), expect the Majestor to carry a significant premium.
It is ready to challenge the veterans of the segment, including:
- Toyota Fortuner
- Jeep Meridian
- Skoda Kodiaq
