Mahindra seems ready to change the name of its popular XUV700 SUV for its next update in 2026. The company recently registered the name 'XUV 7XO,' which strongly suggests a fresh identity.
This wouldn't be new for Mahindra, as they already renamed the XUV300 facelift to the XUV 3XO after it received a major makeover. Since early spy photos show the XUV700 facelift will also get significant changes, giving it a new name makes sense.
Here’s what you should know about the updated 7-seater, likely to be called the XUV 7XO:
New Look and Styling
The updated SUV will feature noticeable design changes:
- Front End: It is expected to have a more upright grille with vertical slats, new dual-projector LED headlights, and a redesigned bumper with sharper air intakes and a thicker lower body guard (skid plate).
- Wheels and Rear: It will get a fresh set of alloy wheels. The back end will look mostly familiar, keeping the existing LED taillights but gaining a slightly refreshed bumper.

Interior Tech and Features
Spy photos confirm that Mahindra is focused on a big technology upgrade for the interior:
- Screen Upgrade: The biggest change will be a new triple-display setup on the dashboard, similar to what's expected in the upcoming XEV electric models.
- Comfort and Luxury: The cabin will likely stick with a lighter colour scheme, featuring beige seats. We expect several new features:
- Massaging front seats.
- Ventilated seats for the second row (on 6-seater versions).
- An upgraded 16-speaker sound system from Harman Kardon.
- Multi-colour mood lighting inside the cabin.
- An extra wireless charging pad for phones.
- Practicality: The middle row of seats is expected to gain a sliding function, making it easier to adjust space.
- Existing Features: Other premium features from the current model should remain, including wireless integration for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat with memory function, and dual-zone climate control.
Safety Systems
Safety is expected to remain top-notch, with the same comprehensive list of features:
- Seven airbags (with six being standard).
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
- A 360-degree camera system.
- Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which includes features like adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.
