MG India has launched a significant update to the first-generation Hector, introducing a new facelift model that comes with a big surprise: a much lower starting price.
The new 2026 MG Hector now begins at just ₹11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory price). This is a remarkable ₹2.1 lakh cheaper than the model it replaces, making the Hector much more accessible. Even the top-tier Hector variant is now more affordable by ₹1.77 lakh.
The updated 7-seater MG Hector Plus range starts slightly higher at ₹17.29 lakh. Prices for the 6-seater Hector Plus models and all diesel models are expected to be announced next year.
The 2026 Hector facelift isn't just about price. Key updates include:
- Design Refresh: The car features a newly redesigned front grille and stylish alloy wheels.
- Massive Screen: Inside, the Hector gets a huge, vertical 14-inch touchscreen that uses MG's new gesture control technology, making the cabin feel modern and premium.

The new MG Hector facelift brings subtle but effective changes to its exterior and a significant technological leap inside the cabin.
Exterior Styling Refresh
While the large size of the grille remains, its look has been updated with new honeycomb-style slats, replacing the older diamond-shaped pattern. The lower air dam has also been revised. For a fresh look, the Hector now sports redesigned 18-inch alloy wheels and a tweaked rear bumper. However, the existing lighting setup, including the split headlamps and the connected LED taillights, has been carried over from the previous model.
Two new colours have been added to the palette: Celadon Blue and Pearl White. These join the existing colours—Aurora Silver, Starry Black, and Glaze Red—bringing the total colour choices to five.

Modern and Feature-Loaded Interior
The cabin gets a fresh, premium look with different dual-tone themes:
- The five-seater Hector features a dual-tone Ice Grey interior.
- The six and seven-seater Hector Plus comes with a premium dual-tone Tan cabin.

The centrepiece is the updated 14-inch vertical touchscreen. This massive screen now features MG’s iSwipe touch gesture control technology. This smart system allows front passengers to adjust the climate control using just two fingers or manage the audio using three fingers, enhancing convenience.
Other popular features that have been retained include:
- A 7-inch digital display for the driver.
- Front ventilated seats for extra comfort.
- 6-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat.
- Wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- A panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a PM 2.5 air filter.
- Push button start/stop and a 360-degree camera system.
Engine and Performance
The 2026 Hector and Hector Plus retain the trusted engine options from the outgoing models:
- Petrol Engine: The 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine delivers 143 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. This engine is available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic.
- Diesel Engine (Upcoming): The diesel lineup, whose pricing will be announced next year, is expected to continue using the powerful 2.0-litre motor that produces 170 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. It remains to be confirmed whether MG will introduce an automatic gearbox option for this diesel engine, which has previously only been available with a manual transmission.
