Mercedes-Benz has further expanded its performance car line-up in India with the launch of the AMG E53. The AMG E53 has been introduced in India for the first time. The company claims that the Mercedes-AMG E53 has been introduced with striking design, enhanced individualisation options, MBUX infotainment system, and more.
Exterior
Up front, the AMG E53 gets flat LED headlamps which are flanked by an AMG-specific radiator grille featuring 12 vertical louvre and a prominently large central three-point star in between. The vehicle rides on a pair of restyled five-twin-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels which are believed to be aerodynamically optimised. The two flatter taillights now extend into the boot lid. With the optional AMG Night Package, the vehicle gets high-gloss black finish on the front splitter, mirror caps, disc frame, longitudinal member inserts, trim strip in the rear apron, and tailpipe trim elements.
Interior
Step inside and one will notice the AMG-specific seat upholstery layout with an ‘AMG’ badge in the front seat backrests. The seats are wrapped in Nappa leather and claim to offer good lateral support, particularly to ensure high comfort during long commutes. As part of the standard equipment list, the vehicle gets the MBUX infotainment system with a touchscreen and touchpad and the intelligent voice control plus AMG-specific displays and settings. Additionally, the vehicle offers individually adjustable ambient lighting.
Engine
Under the hood, the Mercedes-AMG E53 is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, inline engine with exhaust gas turbocharger and electric additional compressor that generates 429bhp at 6,100rpm and 520Nm of torque between 1,800 - 5,800rpm. The EQ boost generates an additional 21bhp and 250Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission. The vehicle is capable of sprinting from zero to 100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 250kmph.
