Recently, another Tata Harrier test car was spotted on the roads and there’s widespread belief that it belongs to the petrol variant. The Tata Harrier currently offers a diesel engine and an electric model, so if this new test car was plotting a petrol engine, it can definitely be announced soon. The test car looks very similar to the current Harrier, but some small differences, like no diesel badges and extra equipment, suggest Tata is testing a different engine.

The new engine is likely a petrol 1.5-litre turbocharged engine which could produce around 150 to 170 bhp. With this engine option, the Harrier could become one of the best petrol SUVs on sale and it could become a true competition to the likes of the MG Hector or the Hyundai Creta. A petrol variant of the Harrier could do well in urban markets if petrol is preferred to diesel due to fuel availability, pricing and lower running costs. While this is all speculative, Tata Motors has not officially confirmed a petrol variant of the Harrier as of now. But given these recent sightings of testing, it is now more likely than not. Buyers and owners will just have to wait for Tata Motors to reveal more info!
